Investment Options for the New Golden Visa Program
- A minimum capital transfer of 500,000 euros allocated to research activities conducted by either public or private institutions involved in the national scientific and technological system.
- A minimum capital transfer of 250,000 euros designated for investments in or support of artistic production, preservation, or maintenance of Portugal’s cultural heritage.
- A minimum capital transfer of 500,000 euros intended for the acquisition of shares in non-real estate collective investment schemes. These schemes must have a minimum maturity of five years, with at least 60% of the investment directed toward Portuguese-based companies.
- A minimum capital transfer of 500,000 euros to establish a commercial company in Portugal or increase the share capital of an existing commercial company based in Portugal. This investment must be coupled with the creation of at least five permanent job positions or the retention of a minimum of ten job positions, including at least five permanent employees, for a duration of no less than three years.
Portugal HSV Option

The Portugal HSV allows applicants to either incorporate a new Portuguese business or invest in certain incubators. Once incorporated and with the Corporate account attached, the business is then required to invest EUR 175,000 into a Government Approved business incubator. The Approved Incubator then invests in selected Research and Development based Portugal Institutions.
Steps and Procedures
Step 1
Steps 2 & 3
- Arrange a visit the Portuguese embassy to attest the required list of documents.
- Transfer the investment amount and any applicable fees into an approved Escrow account.
Step 4 & 5
- Travel to Portugal for biometrics and submit the application for permanent residence and the supporting documentation.
- Temporary residency will be issued within 4 months of your investment.
Steps 6 & 7
- Applications for your renewal of the ‘Golden Visa’ should be sent every 2 years for the next 4 years.
- After your 5th year of residency you can then apply for Portuguese citizenship. Citizenship will be granted within 3-6 months depending on individual approval.
